If you are looking for a sweet, professional hair and makeup artist to come on location, look no further!! Kristen is amazing!!! We had someone lined up to do hair and makeup for myself and my bridal party, and they had to cancel the week of the wedding. I found Kristen on yelp.com she was immediately responsive, super easy to work with, and she is truly, truly talented. All of my girls wanted different styles and Kristen listened to each of them, executing exactly what they wanted and she did it pretty quickly. She listened to exactly what I wanted, both with my hair and make up, and it turned out amazing. She is so easy to get along with and someone we all would hang out with if we lived in Charleston. I cannot recommend her enough!! ("And she is extremely reasonable in price"!!!
Tonya Parks Makeup
Why should you hire a makeup artist? In today's age of High Definition film and print, it is critical that you hire a professional makeup artist. You want to look and feel your most beautiful, so make sure that your videos and photographs reflect that by hiring someone who knows how to address film and print through makeup applications. Besides, this is YOUR special day and the first thing people look at is your beautiful face.
I offer on-location traditional and airbrush makeup services. Each type of foundation offers it's own benefits and is chosen based on your skin type and individual needs. My services are available to the entire wedding party right down to the flower girls or anyone else that would like their makeup done and I work with you to create a custom package for your wedding day! I use trial sessions to sit down and get to know you. They also give us the opportunity to discuss your makeup likes and dislikes. From there, we create your perfect wedding day look-a natural look that is light and romantic, a vintage look with bold lips, or big sexy smokey eyes.I do it all and I love it all! I am also available to stay through pictures or the reception on an hourly basis providing my schedule allows.
Bridal makeup is one of my favorite makeup styles to create. Each bride is unique in their own way and customizing the perfect look is a gratifying feeling. The texture and color of the wedding gown, the simplicity and embellishments of the shoes, the elegance of the accessories, the sophistication of the decor, down to every little detail are expressions of each individual style - these are only the few inspiring elements that help me create the perfect bridal look for each of my brides. There is nothing more rewarding than dolling up the star of the event and enhancing the glow for my brides' most special moments.

CONSIDER CLIMATE BEFORE APPLYING MAKEUP in Charlotte NC
Especially for brides getting married in warmer climates, consider using as many oil-free products as possible - primer, moisturizer, foundation, etc. - and keeping oil-free blotting sheets on hand.
PLAY UP YOUR MAKEUP FOR PHOTOS in Charlotte NC
"Another general rule for brides," Alex says: "The camera will blow you out in photos. Put on a little more makeup than you would apply normally, more than you think you need, since the camera and lights will tone down your makeup."
USE A PRIMER in Charlotte NC
"Especially with brides," Alex says, "you want to make sure you cleanse and really moisturize the skin before you start applying your makeup. Then, after you moisturize and before you put on your foundation, there's a really important step - primer. It'll make your makeup go on smoother and last a lot longer. You're going to have a long day ahead of you, and you want your makeup to last you all day and all night." Alex recommends using Laura Mercier primer. "It's one of my favorites," she says. "It's really great because it comes in all different formulas for all different skin types."
ALWAYS APPLY YOUR FOUNDATION WITH A SPONGE OR BRUSH in Charlotte NC
"Certain foundations work better with a sponge or brush," Alex says, "but definitely use either one or the other - never your fingers. The less you can touch your face, the better." (Bacteria, dirt, etc., can be left behind.) Your fingers can also leave behind fingerprints, "so the look isn't as smooth and finished-looking." If you use a sponge, apply foundation by stippling the sponge, not swiping it across the skin. This gives your foundation a more natural look, and blends it more evenly into the skin.
PUT ON CONCEALER AFTER YOUR FOUNDATION in Charlotte NC
"Your moisturizer, primer, and foundation are already going to even out skin and cover imperfections," Alex says, "so doing it before your foundation could leave you looking cakey with too much product." She also notes that it's important to use a different kind of concealer for your eyes than for your face. "It should be something very creamy and emollient - not necessarily oil-free, like you'll use on your face - so it doesn't get dry and cakey throughout the day," she says. "You also want to use something peach-based so it contrasts the the blue and purple tones of your eyelid."
